Reductive liquefaction of lignin to monocyclic hydrocarbons: ReS2/Al2O3 as efficient char inhibitor and hydrodeoxygenation catalyst

Thermochemical processing of lignin ends up with a major problem which is the high yield char remained from conversion, causing low yields desired products. The ReS2/Al2O3 catalyst, used in this work, exhibited char-suppressing potential and hydrodeoxygenation efficiency reductive liquefaction kraft lignin. Compared to NiMo/Al2O3, as conventional sulfide showed significantly better catalytic performance 72.4 % lower yield, due its stabilizing lignin-depolymerized fragments. remarkable attributed oxophilicity, metal-like behavior rhenium sufficient acidity. effects reaction temperature different catalyst supports (Al2O3, ZrO2 desilicated HY zeolite) were also studied.
